Ahhh, the scrapbook...
As a lover of family history and fond memories, I enjoy a nicely complied scrapbook -- flipping through the pages, studying the snapshots of time, remembering moments that can never be replicated. Beautiful images, happy thoughts, pretty papers. What's not to love?!
Ahhh, the dreaded scrapbook...
As an archivist, the things make me shudder in horror! The glue and adhesives, the "nifty" acid-laden colored papers, the inks and dyes of photo prints....Oh, the humanity!!
Fortunately, my post for today focuses on the positive connotations the scrapbook holds for me. (Hooray!) I hope you'll find a moment to enjoy Mark Twain's Interactive Scrapbook (compliments of PBS). It seems fitting to share with you, as today is the writer's birth anniversary (b: November 30, 1835). But don't let this digital scrapbook fool you. It can be just as unstable and threatening to an archivist as the paper ones are. Oh well, I guess that's a post for another day....
Be well, and have a great day!
