Exhibiting American HistoryPosted by: skinsel in Rediscovering Americana on Nov 01, 2011 |
Hi, library community! My name is Stacey Kinsel and I am a technical services librarian at the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO). As a recent graduate of the University of Pittsburgh’s library school program, I currently work on behind-the-scenes projects supporting the mission of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP). In my free time, I really enjoy searching for local events in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and rediscovering an appreciation for historical information and artifacts.
As a visual learner, I prefer content served with a side of imagery. For me, learning about American History from a textbook presented some interesting challenges. Thankfully the Internet and high-quality digitization have made this type of visual exploration more accessible than ever.
Along with showcasing digital exhibits, I will be blogging about exhibits ongoing at local museums and Government agencies. Government publications related to events will also be highlighted. Stay tune for my next blog post where I embark on a virtual tour through the U.S. National Park Service (NPS) and National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
